Frequently Asked Questions

for
"90 Days of Unlimited Instruction" Program

Jumpstart Your Golf Game with an Interactive 90-Day Program Customized Specifically for You!

Q. When does the 90-day period commence?

A.
The 90-day period commences on the date of your first session.

Q. What is included in this program?

A.
This p
rogram includes:

  • Initial on-course observation session at your home course (optional)
  • Initial meeting to create a plan, consistent with your learning style, to achieve your scoring and performance goals and objectives
  • UNLIMITED lessons (up to three hours per session, with preferred scheduling)
  • On-course lessons (up to two hours per session)
  • Mastering the Mental Game: Increase your confidence, concentration, and composure on the course
  • Learn how to "Practice with Purpose" – developing a plan that fits your personality and your schedule
  • On-Call Coaching in between sessions (via email and phone)

Q. What is the purpose of the Initial On-Course Observation?

A.
This is an optional feature. Per your request, Katherine will
observe you for two hours while you play golf with your peers (or in whatever format you are accustomed to playing) at your home course, or course of preference.

After observing your play (during your initial interview) Katherine
will provide you with an assessment of your playing strategies and shot-making decisions as well as suggestions regarding the aspects of your game most in need of improvement. These suggestions will tie-in directly with your goal-setting for the 90 day period.

Q. How do we determine our Goals and Objectives?

A. Katherine will sit down with you and obtain information to address your specific playing and scoring objectives to be met by the end of the 90 day period. During this meeting, realistic milestones and goals will be determined based on your input.

Q. Are there any limitations or exclusions to "Unlimited Lessons for 90 Days"?

A.
In short, no. However, as Katherine does have other students, all scheduling is subject to her availability. That said, please note that you will receive preferred scheduling and Katherine will make every effort to notify you of her availability in advance.

Q. Can you elaborate on what is included in the lessons/instruction?

A.
Just as Katherine approaches her private lessons, all instruction is
student-centered
, and she will adapt to your learning and communication style, as well as stated goals and objectives.

Regardless of your skill level, the lessons will assist you improving your full swing and short game fundamentals -- the goal is not only to increase consistency in your full swing, but to
expand your repertoire of short game shots. (Video analysis is included.)

Katherine will also help you develop an effective, consistent, pre-shot routine that incorporates both physical and mental cues to keep you focused on the shot at hand.

Q. What does on-course instruction include?

A. The purpose of the on-course lesson is not only to evaluate how you transfer what you are learning on the lesson tee to the course, but to improve your decision-making skills, club selection and shot-making strategies.
Katherine will also work with you on a wide array of short game shots, as well as shot-making from a variety of lies – uphill, downhill, sidehill, rough, thin lies, etc.

In addition, Katherine will work with you on improving your mental approach to the game and overall course management.

Q. How do I know if I could use help with my Mental Game?

A.
Regardless of your skill level, you have already learned that playing your best game of golf requires a positive mindset.

Many of us have experienced days when we felt very much in control of our emotions -- that is, our level of confidence, composure, and concentration -- which resulted in a great round of golf. But, many of us have also experienced those days when we were entirely inconsistent and we had little faith in our swings. The end result was a poor performance and an overall feeling of disappointment with our golf outing.

Katherine's Mastering the Mental Game programs are based on the premise that we play the game of golf as much, if not more, with our minds, than with our bodies. If we can learn to manage and control our attitudes, emotions, and reactions to both negative and positive experiences on the golf course, we will increase our level of confidence and enjoy the game more, and we will play better golf.

Q. What improvements might I expect in my mental approach to the game?

A. You will increase your levels of focus and concentration, incorporate more positive visualization into your shot-making, maintain greater rhythm and tempo during execution, and maintain a consistent composure throughout your round ... and more!

Q. I know that I need to practice when learning new things, but don't find practicing enjoyable. How can you help?

A. One of the major reasons why people don't find practice effective or enjoyable is that they view practice as "hitting balls into the driving range until the basket/bag is empty". They tend to lack a grasp of the practice "process" and simply hit away at balls with their favorite clubs, hoping for an acceptable outcome.

Katherine will teach you how to practice with a sense of purpose, in a manner in which is consistent with your personality, goals, physical tolerances, and scheduling availability. She will also assist you in l
earning the distinction between a practice session and a pre-round warm-up.

Q. What is On-Call Coaching?

A. This means that you can call or e-mail Katherine in between sessions. Receive e-mail reminders of what Katherine addressed with you in previous lessons. Ask follow-up questions or ask for advice regarding an upcoming round.

Q. Can you assure me that I will lower my score?

A. Lowering your golf score requires improving your swing fundamentals and technique, as well as the manner in which you approach your game (course management and decision-making skills) -- this includes improving your mental approach to your game. It also requires the appropriate level of commitment and dedication to achieve your goals.

The extent to which you improve your game and lower your golf score will be a direct result of your interaction with Katherine combined with your commitment to follow your mutually agreed-upon plan of action in between sessions.

Q. What skill level would benefit most from this intensive program?

A.
This customized program is appropriate for golfers of all skill levels and abilities. The customization of this program is based on your skill level and experience, and your personal goals and expectations. Katherine possesses the expertise to work with golfers of all abilities -- from new golfers, to "perpetual beginners" (a.k.a. golfers who have plateaued as high scorers), to single digit players looking to take their games to the next level.

Q. You teach at Bayonet & Black Horse GC and Salinas Golf & Country Club. Do I need to commit to a specific venue?

A.
Ideally, yes. Katherine requests that you identify the venue that works best for you. However, Katherine may make an exception if your situation warrants a change in venue.
